Coming up on 18th June 2016 the event ‘Meet the Directors’ will be held at the University of Wolverhampton where films produced by final year BA (Hons) Video and Film Production students will be showcased.
Among the students are some of the members who took on the Deaffest 72 Hour Film challenge and they will be screening the result of their work ‘Deaffest 2016 Mockumentary’ at the event.
Producers Jack Smallwood and Matthew Shaw presented a challenge in April to a group of media volunteers – is it possible to make a short mockumentary about Deaffest 2016 in 72 hours? The team worked hard doing the filming and editing over the Deaffest weekend.
Last May, Deaffest co-founders Nikki Stratton, Marilyn Willrich and the Head of the University of Wolverhampton’s Film Media and Broadcasting department Tracey McCoy, were invited to a special screening of ‘Deaffest 2016 Mockumentary’. They felt the documentary was very entertaining and captured the flavour of Deaffest 2016. This led to a special invitation to screen the documentary at ‘Meet the Directors’ event to show how this film is a testament to the skill and hard work of the whole team, including those who are in the final year of their Video and Film Production course.
The ‘Meet the Directors’ event is free to attend and will take place in the George Wallis Building at the Wolverhampton School of Art building & School of Media (MK045) 10am to 1pm. There will be a question and answer session after the screenings, followed by a networking opportunity.
This event will be accessible as all films will be subtitled and the Q&A session will be interpreted.
