A feature film starring deaf actor Samuel Dore, following the adventures of profoundly deaf long-distance cyclist James Duthie. Jim hailed from Cairnbulg, a close-knit community on the North East Coast of Scotland, where he was well known to locals as “Dummy Jim”. In 1951, Jim embarked on a lone cycling tour which eventually took him as far as the Arctic Circle and inspired his journal “I Cycled Into The Arctic Circle”. “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.”

In this sign language comedy-drama, four grumpy old Deaf men travel to Blackpool for an annual Deaf event, hoping to make new Deaf friends. But when they meet some young Deaf men, things start to go wrong. Soon the men are riding roller coasters and playing games against one another to decide whether it’s better to be young or old! In between, there is the chance to tell hilarious stories all about subjects like exploding elbows, being knocked out by footballs, and much more! Win or lose, can the old and young men find a connection across the generations?
