The winner of the Ben Steiner Bursary, a nationwide scheme announced in February 2009 for Deaf filmmakers to receive funding for the development of their film, has been announced as Bim Ajadi.  Bim Ajadi’s film Dead Money won the bursary and will be screened at this year’s festival.

The Ben Steiner Bursary Scheme was organised and funded through Deaffest and launched in remembrance of Ben Steiner, a role model for the Deaf community, who died tragically in 2000.

The UK Film Council announced the seven recipients of their new Film Festival Fund this week, and we’ve been awarded £50,000 to develop the festival over the next three years.

The Fund has been set up by the UK Film Council to enhance the work of key UK film festivals and give people the opportunity to learn about film and engage with filmmakers.
