Deaffest Co-founders and Festival Directors Nikki Stratton and Marilyn Willrich attended a Creative Industries Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday the 15th of May 2024, in recognition of the work of the Deaffest team.
“We were honoured to receive an invitation from His Majesty, The King, to attend a garden party to celebrate the Creative Industries, at Buckingham Palace on the 15th May, 2024. This was a lovely treat, as it coincided with my birthday. We were touched that Deaffest was recognised for its contribution to the Deaf Film and Arts Industry across the globe, where raising the bar for Deaf Talent and getting recognition for their work is our primary goal. We enjoyed mingling with well-known individuals from the Creative Industries and seeing King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Beefeaters during the parade. We were blessed with gorgeous sunshine and took this opportunity to soak up the rays whilst enjoying the afternoon tea in royal style!”

It is fantastic to see an emphasis on the importance of the arts sector and its benefits whilst celebrating and championing the industries involved.
