I am a film maker on the isle of Wight and am very interested in attending your festival to see how deaf and hard of hearing film makers produce films and how a festival operates.
I have been approached by a local charity to film a week long class of hearing impaired people, and feel i could benefit greatly from any /all information and background i can get.

I hope you can help me out on this.

    Hi Nigel

It would definitely be a good idea for you to visit Deaffest as you can make contact with Deaf filmmakers and media practioners and get to know their process of working and how they run their shoots. This year we have the winner of the Ben Steiner Bursary, a nationwide scheme for Deaf filmmakers to receive funding for the development of their film, and our Film Gala Awards, a competition for filmmakers from all over the world in different categories. We will also have Young Deaffest, a competition for young Deaf filmmakers. So there will be a range of work for you to look at and discuss at the festival. You can also see how we run the festival in terms of accessibility and provision for Sign over, Voice over, Relay, International and Deaf/Blind interpreters.

Keep a look out on the website for more information as we finalise the programme and the announcement for tickets going on sale for the Gala Awards.

    Thanks
    Lindsay
