Ben Steiner

The Ben Steiner Film Bursary was created in memory of Ben Steiner who died in 2000.

Ben Steiner was a gifted and passionate individual in the Deaf community.  With Deaf family members and the ability to sign at a young age, he was able to communicate both linguistically and culturally amongst Deaf people. His love for the arts and his dedication to Deaf media practitioners, Deaf filmmakers and Sign Language interpreters made him a memorable icon.

Ben Steiner was an active champion and an excellent role-model in both Deaf and interpreting communities.  He was a lecturer at Wolverhampton University and his work demonstrated his amazing creativity and artistic talents. The support and care which he gave to the Deaf community illustrated his passion to see Deaf individuals succeed in achieving their dreams.
